YOU’RE MUCH MORE THAN YOUR SUN SIGN

Your Sun sign IS an important part of who you are and the experiences your soul came here to have, AND it’s not the whole story.

When you only see yourself through your Sun sign, you neglect to see the whole of who you are, as well as the whole piece of the pie of your life. This is why you have a birth chart that shows you the different signs (and houses) you have planets in. There’s more than one planet, right? So, why wouldn’t the other planets be important too? They are!

We’ve been taught to primarily look at our Sun sign and think of ourselves as our Sun sign because the Sun sign is the easiest one to find, all you need to know is your date of birth. The Sun is the most accessible planet, if you will, for getting a glimpse into who you are. However, you are so much more than your Sun sign, and only paying attention to your Sun sign is a limited perspective and understanding of yourself and your life.

You are also your Rising sign and your Moon sign, and all the other planets. Moon, Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn - all of these planets that you can see with the naked eye reveal different aspects of who you are and your life.

We’ve over-identified with our Sun sign, and, in fact, perhaps you haven’t identified with the stereotypes of your Sun sign at all. For example, you might be a Gemini Sun, but you've never related to the stereotype of Gemini. Perhaps people have talked about Geminis as being two-faced, flaky and easily distracted, but you don't feel like that's you.

If you don’t resonate with your Sun sign, this is because you have other things going on in your birth chart that probably represent more of you than your Sun sign. You might have multiple planets in your Rising sign, or the ruler of your Rising sign is in a sign where you have multiple planets, for example, and this sign is one you resonate with more.

Your Rising sign, Moon sign, and the planet that rules your Rising sign describe who you are as well. Thus, you’ll want to get curious about your Rising, Moon, and the other planets in your chart in order to get a more complete picture of who you are.

Not everyone is going to fit the stereotypes of their signs. But, even if you don't resonate with the stereotypes of your signs, there are still aspects of those signs that are you. You might not be aware of them yet, or perhaps you haven't learned what those are.

In addition, you’ll want to look at the planet that rules your Sun. Unless you have a Leo Sun, a different planet rules your Sun, and you’ll want to pay attention to the sign that the ruler of your Sun is in. For example, if you’re a Capricorn Sun, then the ruler of your Sun is Saturn. You look at what sign Saturn is in in your birth chart. Let’s say it’s in, Scorpio, for example. Then, that means your Saturn in Scorpio is pretty important to the experiences your Sun wants to have.

So, you can see how layered astrology gets. Your birth chart reveals ALL of the various layers that make up who you are, as well as the life that you came here to live. Planets in different signs describe different ways that you operate and show up. And, the houses that you have planets in show the areas of your life that are most prominent. They show you what themes and kinds of experiences your soul came here to have in this life.

So, I encourage you to get to know the others signs you have planets in, and to begin shifting your language in conversations with others to include them.

Next time you’re chatting about astrology with a friend, talk about your Rising Sign and Moon sign, for example. And, ask your friends what their Rising Sign and Moon signs are. Get to know more than their Sun sign, not just one piece.

Shifting your language to include the other parts of your chart will take time to practice, and it will expand your perspective of yourself and of others.

Taking the time and attention to look beneath the surface of someone allows you to truly see all of the different parts, nuances and layers that make up who they are.

Obviously, that’s easier for me to do as an astrologer, but you can do this too with your friends, partners, and loved ones. You can start with someone’s Rising sign, Moon sign, and the planet the rules the Rising sign. Learn more about those signs, and notice how they describe your loved ones and their lives. This can be a fun exercise, but it’s also an opportunity to go deeper in your relationships.

We want to be seen for ALL of who we are, and it is a gift when someone truly sees you, the various, beautiful, complex layers that make up who you are. The beautiful thing about astrology is how much the planets illuminate your soul’s personality, desires, intentions, journey, and interconnectedness.

Want to explore the various layers of your birth chart, and what it says about this current period of your life?

Then, I would love to have an astrology reading with you! I invite you to book with me HERE.
