WHAT YOUR RISING SIGN REVEALS ABOUT YOU AND YOUR LIFE

Do you know your Rising sign? If you don’t, check out this post of mine for instructions on how to find it.

Do you resonate with your Rising sign? Do you identify as it?

When people ask you or you ask them, what’s your sign?, which sign are you referring to? Because you’re as much your Rising sign as your Sun sign!

It wasn’t until I started my astrology training when I embraced my Rising sign more. Prior, whenever I would read about my Rising sign, some of it would resonate, but I didn’t identify with it on a deeper level.

Because our Sun sign is the easiest one to find (all you need to know is your month and day of birth), we tend to over-identify with it. And, while your Sun sign IS important, and it does describe you and your life in many ways, it’s been over-emphasized to the point where we don’t put as much attention on the other signs we have planets in, which means, we’re ignoring other parts of ourselves that are just as significant.

Your rising sign is the sign that was rising on the horizon when you were born. Ancient astrologers believed that the soul entered the body at the moment of birth, so whatever sign was rising is the one most personal to you. The rising sign changes signs more frequently than the planets, which is why you need to know your exact birth time in order to know it.

Your Rising sign is the most personal part of you. Ancient astrologers saw your Rising sign as describing your personality, self, identity, body, and spirit.

Your Rising sign makes up the 1st house in your birth chart, and the 1st house is the only house that encompasses ALL of you, while all of the other houses in your chart reveal other people, events, and experiences in your life.

Ancient astrologers saw your Rising sign as describing who you are, and the direction of your life. Understanding your Rising sign helps you better understand yourself, and the life that’s important to you.

If you haven’t resonated much with your Sun sign, perhaps you resonate with your Rising sign more?

On the contrary, if you feel like you’ve resonated more with your Sun sign than your Rising sign, I encourage you to dig deeper into your Rising sign, and peel back the various layers it has to offer.

Put your Sun sign on the back burner for now and think about what traits of your Rising sign might describe you, your demeanor, and/or how you operate.

How do the qualities of your Rising Sign contribute to what’s important to you, how you show up, and your gifts and talents?

Look beyond the stereotypes, beneath the surface, and explore that sign more. Think, how does this describe me? Then, look at the planet that rules your Rising sign, and learn more about what that planet represents… how does it describe your life?

When I started learning more about my Rising sign, I unraveled deeper parts of myself that I knew existed, but I hadn’t truly affirmed or embraced. Now, I embrace the qualities of this sign that are in me, and I can see how they 100% attribute to the experiences my soul came into this life to have.

For example, I’m Cancer Rising, and I didn’t really know what that meant for much of my life. But, when I started to learn more about Cancer and its ruler, the Moon, then I could see more of how very Cancerian I am. I started to relate more and more to the Moon, and saw how much it reflected me, how I operate, the themes in my life, and what’s important to me.

For example, I’m a homebody who often likes to retreat into my comfortable shell. I also regularly housesit for people. I’m very close with my mom, and we speak on the phone every single day. I’m a deep, sensitive feeler whose guided by intuition. I cry a lot as I’m easily moved by emotions, people, or experiences that are meaningful to me. Being met with warmth, friendliness, appreciation and generosity mean a lot to me.

Now, I identify with being a Cancer as much as I identify with my Sun sign (Capricorn). When people only think of me as my Sun sign, I feel like they’re missing my whole self.

Obviously, it’s easy for me, as an astrologer, to think of others as more than their Sun sign, but I encourage you to pay more attention to your Rising sign, explore the traits of that sign, and ask your loved ones and new friends about their Rising sign :) You will uncover more layers of yourself and others. This can be a fun exercise, but it’s also an opportunity to go deeper in your relationships.

We want to be seen for ALL of who we are, and it is a gift when someone truly sees you, the various, beautiful, complex layers that make up who you are.

The beautiful thing about astrology is how much the planets illuminate your soul’s personality, desires, intentions, journey, and interconnectedness.
