SATURN IN ARIES: PUNK ROCK ANTHEM, RESISTING OPPRESSION, BURNING AWAY WHAT ISN’T NECESSARY
We’ve had major Aries activation this year! So far, in 2025, there’s been a Venus retrograde in Aries, a Mercury retrograde in Aries, an eclipse in Aries, and Neptune moving into Aries (the first time Neptune has moved into a new sign since 2012). Now, here on May 24th, Saturn moves into Aries continuing the fiery, action-oriented, maverick energy.
Saturn has been in dreamy, watery, sensitive Pisces ruled by big picture, Jupiter, since March 2023. Saturn in Pisces tends to be a more chaotic period. Pisces is a mutable, water sign that is fluid and ever changeable. Saturn here has been weathering an ever changing storm in a turbulent sea. We’ve been trying to stay solid and grounded during an unimaginable chaotic time. Jupiter and Pisces are imaginative, but Saturn here has shown us the unimaginable, showing us the darkness in what we did not imagine. Saturn’s almost entire stay in Pisces has been co-present with Neptune, which has shown us delusions of our reality and chaos.
Saturn in Aries is a different energy. Saturn shows us the flavor of the hardships that we’re dealing with, and what the hardships might pertain to. Saturn also represents setting new, solid foundations, which I’ll get into later in this post. Saturn is in its fall in Aries, which is a challenge, although it’s one that I’m looking forward to. Saturn’s fall in Aries can indicate the literal fall of oppressive leaders. When a planet is in its “fall” or “detriment,” it indicates serious challenges and obstacles. We know more challenges are ahead, AND at the same time, I think that Saturn’s fall in Aries will mean the FALL of oppressive leaders.
Aries is leaders and leadership. The Sun is exalted in Aries, and the Sun also represents leaders, as well as celebrities, and kings/queens. It is our hope that we witness the fall of those who want to be king, and leaders who abuse their power. And, may this “fall” include true accountability, which Saturn is all about. We will also probably become less interested in celebrities and celebrity culture. With the prominent Aries energy we’re working with this year, our relationship to leaders and leadership is in the spotlight. With the recent Venus AND Mercury retrogrades in Aries, our relationship to certain types of leaders has been up for review and reflection.
This also applies to companies and the “heads” of corporations as Aries rules the head. Which companies are supporting fascism and socio-economic inequities and systemic oppression, and which aren’t? This also applies to celebrities. More and more, we are seeing how many celebrities are completely disconnected to reality, the reality of most of us who are struggling to make ends meet. Because of all of this, we are divesting ourselves from these so called “leaders” and people in positions of power. We are not giving them our money, attention, or support. We are cutting off from them. Mars, the ruler of Saturn in Aries, is all about cutting and separating.
Saturn in Aries can make us more discerning (a keyword for Saturn) about which leaders we support, but also inspire us to COMPLETELY re-imagine and re-do what leadership, business, and power mean. Get your punk rock playlist 🎸 ready because this is the fuel we’ll need to drive us forward into creating revolutionary changes for the people, by the people.
Saturn in Aries will pose great challenges, AND it is a great transit for resisting (another Saturn keyword) oppression and creating new paths that better serve humanity and center the oppressed. Aries is all about creating something that hasn’t been done before, and we can use this creative energy to create the kind of world we want to live in and need to live in.
