Jupiter Enters Leo: Power, Creative Expression, Spiritual & Intellectual Growth
Moon Shine by Airen Astrology

Jupiter has moved from the Moon’s sign, Cancer, to the Sun’s sign, Leo, and will stay there until July 2027.

Jupiter in Cancer was more about our inner world, focusing on home and family (whatever family means to you), feeling like more of a homebody, and nurturing your body.

The Moon is home and the body. Jupiter in Cancer had a focus on the physical body and domestic sphere of life. The Sun is the mind and “the instrument of our spirit,” as ancient astrologer, Vettius Valens said. Jupiter in Leo focuses on your mind, spirit, and vitality.

Jupiter is known as the planet of “good spirit,” thus Jupiter in Leo can be a soulful transit. Jupiter is also connected to higher knowledge, meaning, and scholars. Jupiter in the Sun’s sign wants to expand and grow your spiritual and intellectual knowledge.

Some might feel like they’re going on a spiritual quest. Jupiter’s opposition to Pluto can have you digging deeper into your psyche and soul. Jupiter is also higher truths, and Jupiter in Leo wants you to honor your higher self and the life your soul came here to experience.

This isn’t any ol’ Jupiter transit because this Jupiter transit is part of the unique cosmic alignment that we are having in July. Jupiter in Leo will oppose Pluto in Aquarius, make a sextile to Uranus in Gemini, and make a trine with Saturn and Neptune in Aries.

This is a power placement for Jupiter. But, that power comes with great responsibility and consequences. Because Jupiter opposes Pluto, power, inequalities and power imbalances, what power means, who has it and who doesn’t will all be front and center.

Those who are disconnected from their soul and humanity will express the lowest versions of Jupiter in Leo opposing Pluto centering their egos, profit over people, and trying to grab as much money and power as they can.

This opposition symbolizes the fight between We The People and the oligarchs. This is We The People’s time to shine though. It’s our time to exercise our power more in creating another world possible.

Jupiter in Leo might have you feeling bolder, and wanting to express yourself on the outside more. Competition and jealousy will be ever present, so regular reminders to not compare yourself to others will be important. There is room for ALL of us to shine.

Jupiter goes from a water sign to a fire sign. You might feel like emerging from your shell more with Jupiter in Leo. Jupiter in Cancer was highly creative, but more behind-the-scenes. Jupiter in Leo can inspire you to express and share more of your creative self with the world.

A lion, the symbol of Leo, wants to emerge. It’s also protecting its territory. The luminaries (Moon and Sun) do that. Cancer, the sign of the crab ruled by the Moon, is highly protective of its space and loved ones. The Sun, ruling Leo, is also protective of its space and loved ones. Leo can be one of the most loyal signs.

Trying to protect the spaces of care and nourishment we have created will be a theme. The opposition to Pluto doesn’t make it easy, as we’ll be forced to work through murky power dynamics.

Jupiter in Cancer showed us how we can come together, share resources, and support one another. We can take what we learned and use Jupiter in Leo to support each other in shining in one’s element.

Jupiter in Leo’s aspect to Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini helps us keep the focus on we, community, and the collective instead of getting swept up in me, myself, and I. Capitalism wants us to focus on the individual, but we know better. We know that hasn’t worked, nor will it work going forward.

This doesn’t mean that there isn’t value in deeper self reflection and awareness, however. Jupiter in Leo wants to dig deeper into, Who am I in this period of my life? How have I changed? Do the things that mattered to me years ago still matter to me?

The combo of Jupiter in Leo opposing Pluto in Aquarius invites into deeper spiritual, self growth and how we’re interconnected. At its elevation, Jupiter in Leo opposing Pluto in Aquarius shows us that the highest expression of the self cares about the collective and the systems we live in, and changing them in order to truly care for humanity.

Jupiter in the Sun’s sign associates with high ranks, leadership, and where you shine. You might notice your desire to be recognized is louder. Jupiter in Leo wants to shine bright and be recognized for the meaningful work that it does. You might notice a stronger desire, underneath, to be seen for all of who you are, and for all the ways that you contribute.

Another reason why this isn’t any ol’ Jupiter transit is because Jupiter will be with the South Node during most of its time in Leo. The nodes will switch signs on July 26th, when the North Node will move into Aquarius and the South Node will move into Leo for about a year and a half.

The South Node is about releasing, decreasing, and purging. Jupiter in Leo wants to give something(s) up in order to grow. While Jupiter is about expansion, sometimes you have to purge things in order to feel more expansive, like de-cluttering so you can have more space, and feel more spacious.

Jupiter with the South Node in the Sun’s sign wants to release old thoughts and beliefs that it no longer aligns with. Sometimes, even though you’ve changed, your mind is still stuck on a certain identity or perception, and you have to consciously update it.

Releasing certain identities that no longer fit you can be some of the most liberating experiences in your life. And, when you release certain identities that no longer align, some of the people in your life can have a hard time shifting their perception of you. But, you can’t change how other people perceive you, nor is it your responsibility.

The South Node moving into Leo wants to release and purge in a different area of your life because it’s moving into a different house in your birth chart. Jupiter in Leo wants to expand and grow in this different area of your life as well, and is decluttering in order to do so.

Some might say Jupiter in Leo is a “lucky” transit, and, for some it might be. But, I don’t think it serves us to mainly think of Jupiter this way. Jupiter represents A LOT of different things, so if you’re expecting a whole bunch of luck when Jupiter is in your sign, then you will probably be disappointed.

Ultimately, Jupiter wants you to expand your horizons and grow. Sometimes, this growth is internal, and, other times, it’s external. Jupiter might grow your interests, desires, perspectives, or spiritual pursuits.

Leo Risings, Suns and Moons will be most magnetized by Jupiter in Leo over the next year. Look for a confidence boost, expanding the ways you express yourself on the outside, taking bold moves, and pursuing new spiritual or intellectual interests.
